Educational Success for All

Educational Success for All Proctor's Public Schools - ISD 704 offers abundant learning opportunities within a small school atmosphere. Proctor students benefit from teachers who are consistently recognized as the best in Minnesota, among them the 2005 Minnesota Teacher of the Year Glen Sorenson. Proctor students choose from many course options and career preparation opportunities.

Education
In partnership with six colleges and universities, Proctor High School offers 35 -College in the Schools" courses, more than most schools of its size in Minnesota. All of Proctor's elementary sites have achieved high academic honors, with Caribou Lake Elementary being named a School of Excellence in 1999, Pike Lake Elementary earning recognition as a 5-Star School in Reading during the 06-07 school year, and Bay View Elementary being awarded Senator Dayton's Excellence in Education award in the fall of 2006.

Facilities
Proctor students benefit from some of the finest athletic and learning facilities in the region. Proctor High School houses the Proctor Fitness Center, a state-of-the art fitness complex including on-site physical therapy, which is open to the public seven days a week, and is operated in partnership with St. Mary's Duluth Clinic. Proctor's beautifully upgraded pool extends sports and recreation options to both students and community members, as does the newly paved running track. A new fieldhouse and traditional game gym provide space for many sports and community events. Media Center upgrades and new additions to district schools at Caribou Lake, Pike Lake, Bay View, Jedlicka Middle School and Proctor High School create great learning spaces and facilitate connections to learning which is global in scale.

Extracurriculars
Proctor students can participate in 34 extracurricular activities, and many students excel in regional, state or national competitions for football, track, and DECA.

Bay View School Forest
The Bay View School Forest is a busy piece of property directly behind the Bay View Elementary School. As a school forest since 1976, it has served as an outdoor living learning laboratory. Since 2002, the Bay View School Forest Club has been committed to involving Bay View Elementary School students and community members in educational activities which promote environmental stewardship. The Bay View School Forest project not only offers excellent environmental education immersion experiences; it actually protects the headwaters of the 62nd Avenue Creek and a tributary that drains to Kingsbury Creek. The Club provides after school activities to the community twice a month. The activities are a mix of recreation, education, and conservation events that are open and supported by the local community.
